Women Score Thirteen To Progress in Vitality Women's FA Cup

Oxford United Women beat Liskeard Athletic 13-0 on the road

4 December 2022

Oxford United Women won comfortably in the Vitality Women's FA Cup Second Round this afternoon, beating Liskeard Athletic 13-0 on the road.

The game started as you would have expected, with the Cornish side pasted by efforts from United, but home keeper Sara Rowe stood up to the test. The Liskeard keeper made big saves from two Carly Johns efforts within the first ten minutes, tipping one over the bar and blocking the other from close range.

Liskeard did well to defend the barrage from United until the 16th minute when Johns broke the deadlock. Lily Stevens fed United’s number 9 down the right, who beat Olivia Ramsey and smashed the ball home from close range to give Oxford the lead.

She then quickly added a second in the 21st minute, latching on to a defence splitting ball from Jaime Gotch at centre half and calmly lifting the ball over Rowe.

Before half time, Riva Casley scored her third of the season and United’s third of the day with a superb half volley at the back post from a Johns cross.

United then scored three in as many minutes;  Cole’s free kick flew straight in from the left, Sarah King netted her first of the season with a curling effort, and a Liskeard own goal made it 6-0 to the Yellows at half time.

Daisy McLachlan got in on the action straight after the break before Johns completed her hat-trick in the 51st minute.

Sammy Wynne, Lacy Liggett and Jess Gray replaced Stevens, Johns and Cole in the second half.

Leah Burridge scored the pick of the bunch in the 64th minute, picking up the ball outside the box and firing a rocket into the top right corner to make it nine, before heading home another five minutes later to score United's tenth.

Iesha Swaby and Lacy Liggett then scored a cracker each, before King shrugged off her defender and added her second of the game to make it 13-0 at full time.

Liskeard were big underdogs coming into the fixture but didn't stop fighting all game. United were just too good for them on the ball and now look ahead to the Third Round straight away as they host Plymouth Argyle Women at home next Sunday.

It will be the last time United play at Court Place Farm in 2022 so come and join us for one more game this year on the 11th of December.

UNITED: Kite, Stevens (Wynne, 72'), Casley, Gotch, Provan, Cole (Gray, 52'), Burridge, Johns (Liggett, 59'), McLachlan, Swaby, King
