Oxford United forward Jack Stevens will have a further opportunity to impress with the U’s after signing his first professional contract today.
The 19-year-old has been a key part of the under 18 and under 21 side since joining the club as a scholar and has signed a deal until January with Karl Robinson telling us
“He’s a good player. I’m told he scored or played a part in 26 goals for the youth team last year but lockdown got in the way. We extended his scholarship and now he gets a chance to show us he is ready to make that next step as a professional.”
Jack, no relation to United's goalkeeper of the same name, was delighted to have signed, saying
“It’s every young footballer’s dream to sign a first professional contract so I couldn’t be happier to get this chance. I know it’s up to me to keep working hard, keep developing and push on but I am very grateful to everyone who has helped me get to this stage in my career.”
