U19s Head To Exeter

U19s face Exeter City away in the Youth Alliance League

3 February 2023

Oxford United U19s travel to Exeter City in the Youth Alliance League tomorrow morning. Kick off is at 11:30AM at the Cliff Hill Training Ground.

The U’s travel to Exeter for the second time in as many months, previously beating the Grecians 3-1 in an enthralling FA Youth Cup tie.

Exeter currently sit in fourth place in the South West Division, but United could leapfrog them with a victory.

Coach Chris Hackett said

“Exeter are a very good side and it was a great game at their place in the Youth Cup. We’ve done our preparation and the boys have got their heads down in training after the draw to Bristol Rovers on Tuesday. We need to keep building momentum ahead of a busy week with the Youth Cup on Wednesday and a home derby next Saturday.”

Young U's Draw At Exeter

United's U19s draw 1-1 with the Grecians in the Youth Alliance League

4 February 2023

Oxford United U19s drew 1-1 with the Grecians in Exeter this morning in the Youth Alliance South West Division.

With a big Youth Cup game in midweek and a home derby next Saturday, the U's sent a young group to Devon, who secured a solid point on the road.

Under-15 Callum Cliff opened the scoring for United, before Exeter City skipper Joe Wragg levelled the game in the first half to go into the break level. Neither side could find a winner and the points were shared.

Coach Niall Keown said:

"It was a really good performance and a lot of credit has to go to a very young group who played very well against an older Exeter side. We had four under 15s in the group and everyone showed real unity.

"The boys all showed excellent work rate and there were some real glimpses of quality at times. We started well and scored early on, and there was good intensity throughout."

The Young U's now look ahead to an historic fifth round FA Youth Cup tie against Leeds United at the Kassam Stadium on Wednesday (kick-off 7pm).

LINEUP: Barnsley, Lacey, Timperley, Mole, Bangurah, Cliff, Obarotimi, Doyle, Iheanacho (Trippett 60), Lee, Burton
