Jake is an agile and pacy centre half who started his career with Bradford City during the 2003/4 season. In 2005 he gained his first taste of regular first team football while on loan at Halifax, then managed by Chris Wilder, before joining the club permanently in 2006. Following Halifax's demise Jake joined Blue Square Premier side Crawley Town in the summer of 2008, becoming one of the division's finest defenders before moving to League One side Brighton & Hove Albion for an undisclosed fee in 2009. Following the arrival of Gus Poyet, Jake joined Oxford on loan in January 2010 before moving permanently six months later.
