Kevin began his career in his native Cumbria with Carlisle before spells at Barrow and Telford. In 2001 he signed for Doncaster Rovers before linking up with Chris Wilder at Halifax in 2002. His defensive abilities and dead ball delivery caught the eye of Lincoln City who paid £10,000 for his services in March 2004, where he spent a season and a half before joining Macclesfield Town. Kevin scored a spectacular free-kick goal for the Silkmen against United at the Kassam Stadium in 2005/6
Former United boss Mark Wright then took him to Chester City, where he made over fifty appearances before moving to Weymouth in 2008. Kevin joined United in February 2009 and signed permanently that summer
