MATCH PACK: BURTON ALBION

Posted on: Fri 27 Jan 2012

United travel to Burton Albion on Sunday for their npower League 2 fixture (3pm) that was originally scheduled for tomorrow, looking to make it five away games unbeaten.

The U's will be hoping to get back to winning ways following last Saturday's 2-2 draw with Hereford United.

Manager Chris Wilder will be forced into at least one change to the side that rescued a last-gasp point against the Bulls, as right-back Damian Batt picked up his 10th yellow card of the season and faces a two-match suspension.

"We've had tough and tight games with Burton in the past and I'm expecting the same on Sunday."

Andrew Whing is likely to move over to cover for Batt's absence, leaving the way open for Paul McLaren or Asa Hall to return to the starting line-up.

There could be a place for Australia under-20 striker Matthew Fletcher in the squad for the first time, while new signing Oli Johnson will probably be on the bench for his first away game with the U's.

 The Opposition

Burton Albion manager Paul Peschisolido told BBC Radio Derby:

"It's a team game and that's something I will always stress. It's not about the 11 who are picked. Everyone in the squad is important.

"I don't want complacency I want people to go in to the team fighting to regain a place and we have had that this season.

"Substitutes have come on in the right frame of mind and when they have come on they have had the impact I am looking for.

"Oxford have a lot of pace in their team. Their full-backs bomb on for fun, they have quality in the middle of the park and up front they are a constant threat. It will a be a very difficult game but I am confident we can beat them."

Burton defender Chris Palmer told www.burtonalbionfc.com that he is hoping for a starting place on Sunday. Palmer came off the bench in the Brewers' 1-1 draw at Bradford City on Saturday and helped set up the goal that earned Burton their first point of 2012. He said:

"I do think it was my goal, even so, it was my cross that led to the goal and shows I can make an impact as I did against Northampton as well.

"It was maybe that little bit of luck we needed and hopefully our luck has changed and we can get a positive result against Oxford this weekend".

The Brewers are likely to give a debut to 19-year-old midfielder Lee Lucas who joined yesterday  on loan from Swansea City until  the end of the season.
