BOOK NOW FOR MACCLESFIELD

Posted on: Wed 22 Feb 2012

This Saturday 25th February is Oxford United's Military Day as the club salutes the work of our armed forces.

The club fully supports the work that our military personnel do around the world and our game at home to Macclesfield will recognise their efforts.

All of our local bases have been contacted and invited to come along to the game, with any serving personnel who come along to the game in uniform being given a free ticket.

Sapper Jack Cummings, a true war hero who suffered terrible injuries in Afghanistan, will be our guest of honour along with officers from the local regiments and squadrons.

The 7th Rifle division will be in attendance, with a recruitment and information stand, as will Standard bearers from the Royal British Legion and Chelsea Pensioners, and serving soldiers who will present the match ball to the referee before kick-off.
The teams will be greeted by a fanfare from Buglers of the 7 Rifles band.

The Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA) who help hundreds of servicemen and women and their families will be collecting around the ground.

With United in great form after picking up another three points against Barnet last night this promises to be another exciting afternoon of football as well as an emotional day for our Military Guests.
