United honoured

Posted on: Tue 07 Sep 2010

Oxford United's fantastic achievements of the past year were honoured with a civic reception at County Hall last night.

Chairman Kelvin Thomas, manager Chris Wilder, the entire first team squad and backroom staff were on hand to meet the Mayor, the Mayors of the surrounding towns across the county, plus councilllors and dignitaries and to celebrate United's promotion back into the Football League.

With the United flag flying high over the city of Oxford the evening also looked forward to a successful season ahead. Captain James Constable said:

"It was great to be honoured like this. We were overwhelmed by the support we had at every game last year, and it is great to know that the whole county and the whole city are behind us. It was one last way of celebrating last season's success and hopefully we can be successful this season as well."
