Fans help Tess

Posted on: Tue 31 Aug 2010

United's brilliant fans were at it again on Saturday with a collection for three year old  Tess Sullivan, fron Huncoat, Lancashire.

Tess has a rare degenerative disorder, Alexander disease, which is a terminal disease.

United fan Dave Cudd was touched by the story after hearing of a bucket collection when Accrington played Newcastle last week, and swiftly organised a collection on Saturday. Thanks to the kind hearted Oxford fans  £555.00 will go to Tess, whose dream is a Disney cruise.

Dave told us:

"I was really touched by the story and I would like to thank everyone who made it possible. I would like to say thank you to all those people who very kindly donated their loose change and also to Kevin Bourton, Matt Naish and my children Tommy and Jenny, who went round with the buckets. Thanks also to Paul Hayday, who helped us add the money up after the game. "

It wasn't just the fans who got behind the colelction: as out picture shows both sets of players were right behind it, with Damian Batt and Accrington manager John Coleman totally united. Pictures left to right: Damian Batt (Oxford United), Matt Naish (United fan), John Coleman (manager, Accrington stanley), Dave Cudd (United fan), Paul Hayday (United Fan), Sean McConville (Accrington stanley)

It's not too late to help Tess. The Paypal account 73HFRARXZJ3TG  has been set up for donations (in the name Helen Sullivan) while you can also email helensullivan@hotmail.co.uk
