We've heard of footballers looking sharp on the training ground, but this isn't quite what we expected…
United full back Ben Purkiss stepped up his preparations for the new season with a trip to Andy's Barber Shop in Bicester. The former York City man, who continued his return from injury in Wednesday night's opening Reserve fixture against Southend United, set about increasing his sharpness off the pitch as well as on it after stopping by the Sheep Street shop for a style and shave.
Andy Willis, owner and long-time United supporter was happy to lend a steady hand as the squad look to turn on the style against Wycombe Wanderers and West Ham United over the coming days.
"We were delighted to have Ben with us" said Andy. "Everybody involved with the shop is a massive supporter of Oxford United and it's fantastic to have a member of the squad come down and see what we have to offer. In the future we hope to be able to offer great incentives to loyal Oxford United supporters."
Andy's Barber Shop is one of Oxfordshire's leading barber shops, offering eight cutting positions, hot towel shaves and efficient and friendly service.
For a quality haircut at competitive prices call into Andy's at 29 Sheep Street, Bicester or telephone 01869 244488.
