United strike it Rich

Posted on: Thu 01 Jul 2010

United have completed their tenth signing of the summer with the arrival of former Bury central midfielder Richie Baker.

The 22-year-old joins the U's after parting ways with the Shakers following the end of the 2009/10 season, linking up with Chris Wilder for a second time following the manager's spell as assistant to Alan Knill.

The 5'11" Burnley-born man began his career at Manchester United alongside the likes of Frazier Campbell and Ryan Shawcross before signing as a trainee with Championship side Preston North End during the 2005/6 campaign, moving to Gigg Lane on a free transfer twelve months later. During his time with the club Richie went on to make 129 senior appearances in all competitions, scoring eight times.

Richie joined up with his new teammates for the first time as pre-season training began this morning.
