The buzz is back

Posted on: Thu 24 Jun 2010

The excitement began to build for the new season today as the first team squad reported back for the first time.

The players were all smiles as they met up for the first time since the summer break, with the new faces in the squad all settling in quickly and being made to feel a part of the set up.

The players went through a series of agility tests and bleep tests in a short session before running through their programme and itinerary for pre-season.

The only player missing was Simon Clist, as Chris Wilder explained:

"We have had a shorter off-season because of the play-offs so we asked the lads to come in, do a few tests and assessments and run through what we are doing in the next few weeks. We have worked out a very good pre-season programme and they will come back in next Thursday for the first day of full training. There will be plenty of hard work but it will be structured and organized and should stand us in good stead.

"Clisty will miss the first week or two of training because of a hernia op, but he is a naturally fit lad and will work with the physio and we expect him back quite quickly from that.

"There was a good buzz about the place today and it was good to work with the lads again."

Come and meet all of the players on Saturday 3rd July at the Oxford United Open Day.
