Fixtures and Fittings

Posted on: Tue 08 Jun 2010

The fixtures for the new season are almost upon us.

The fixtures for 2010/11 will come out at 9am on Thursday June 17th. These will appear right here on the official website, and we will text mobile subscribers with the news as soon as the games are known.

It is a busy day for club websites as Chris Williams writes:

"It is one of the most eagerly anticipated days of the summer and everyone wants to see the fixtures first. It is very exciting and everyone starts refreshing the official sites from early in the morning. That always makes it an interesting morning for club webmasters!

"There are 80 clubs in the FLi agreement which we are part of, so there are eighty websites on the same servers and that means millions of people trying to access them at the precise same moment. It has been known to go wrong in the past but there are great measures being taken this time to ensure that official sites are first with the news.

"With that in mind there is a 'dry run' today set to launch between 8am and 10am today on all of those sites. In theory supporters will not see any difference but a dummy set of fixtures are due to be published then removed. They shouldn't be visible for too long but if anyone does get a glimpse then don't read too much into them; the real fixtures will be out next Thursday."

The draw for the Carling Cup will take place on Tuesday June 16th
