Oxford United are proud to announce that their next home game will be used to salute the true heroes on 'Support the Forces' Day
The U's take on Gateshead this Saturday 27th March and as guests of honour have invited senior officers and serving troops and staff from all of the local military bases and organizations including RAF Benson, Dalton Barracks, Bicester Garrison, St Davids Barracks, RAF Brize Norton, SSAFA, Value for Valour, and the Yellow Ribbon Foundation
Tickets have been offered to serving personnel and their families, including those who have recently returned from active service in Afghanistan, and the players and supporters will salute their efforts with a minute's applause ahead of the game.
Chairman Kelvin Thomas said:
"As a club we felt it was important to acknowledge the fantastic work that all of our armed services do. We need to salute the true heroes who are those who put their lives on the line and risk everything for their country. We have been in touch with as many of our local military bases as possible and given them tickets for the game and invited them to come along with their families to enjoy a game of football. It will be a proud moment for us to have them here as our guests."
