United's Youth Team continued their fine form with a 3-1 win over local rivals Swindon Town on Saturday.
The U's had only suffered one defeat in their eight previous games but were facing a Swindon side who were top of the table and had lost just twice all season. However, Les Taylor's under 18 side stormed into a 3-0 lead at the break and were full value for their win. The goals came from Sam Parrish, Henry Owen and Connor McDonagh and Les was delighted with the victory:
"We knew it would be a tough game but the attitude was spot on and we started extremely brightly. We scored two goals from set pieces thanks to good delivery and our two centre halves, Sam and Henry, attacking the ball. Both of them have a good habit of scoring goals from the back. Connor McDonagh then netted a third so we were really happy with the half but warned the lads that Swindon would come at us in the second.
"It is always a local derby and the lads knew it had that little bit extra on it, but we should have scored more in the
second half and saw the game out despite conceding one goal.
"There were some excellent indivudual performances but it was the team and the spirit which really impressed."
