United sign Fowler
United have strengthened their squad with the arrival of midfiielder Lee Fowler on a permanent deal until the end of the season.
Lee, 26, is a Welsh under 21 international who began his career at Coventry City before joining Huddersfiield Town. He scored the winning penalty to take Huddersfield into League One in the play-of final at the Millenium Stadium in 2004, before spells at Scarborough and Burton Albion. He then joined Forest Green Rovers in 2008 before moving to Kettering this summer where he made eighteen league and cup appearances for the Poppies, scoring once in the process.
A busy midfielder with bags of energy, Chris Wilder is delighted to add Lee to the squad as they travel to Rushden and Diamonds on New Year's day:
"I'm delighted to bring Lee in," says Wilder. "The past two or three weeks have shown that we might need another body in there for when the likes of Bully pick up a knock. He's a player who knows the division and will certainly give us added strength and experience."
"I'm looking forward to the challenge ahead," adds Fowler. "There was a league club interested in me and I could've gone there in January, but I wanted to come here from the moment that I got the call. I know what this league is about and I know what the league above is about, and I think that in Oxford i've found a club that has the same ambition to win and do well as I do."
