United sign Green

Posted on: Tue 24 Nov 2009

United have made their second signing in 24 hours with striker Francis Green arriving on loan from Kettering with a view to a permanent deal.

The 29 year old can play up front or on either wing. He began his career at Peterborough before a £75,000 move to Lincoln City in 2003. Green scored twenty times for the Imps, including a goal against United at the Kassam Stadium,  before joining Boston United and then Macclesfield Town where he scored eleven times in 2007/8. He joined Kettering this summer and has played in every game this season, scoring four times.

He joins Onome Sodje, who signed on loan from Barnsley yesterday, in the squad at Forest Green tonight.

Chris Wilder said:

"Francis is an experienced striker who gives us cover right across the front line. He has played a major part in Kettering's excellent start to the season and adds versatilty. The experience he brings is something I think will be vital in the second half of the season. I think the two new faces will freshen things up and be great additions to the squad."
