Beano's double delight
There was double delight for United's top scorer James Constable tonight.
James was awarded the top prize of Blue Square Player of the Year at the Conference's awards dinner in Stratford on Avon. This award is voted for by the managers at all of the clubs in the Blue Square Premier, North and South and was presented by Setanta TV's Rebecca Lowe and Steve Bower.
James was also named as Blue Square Fans Player of the Year.
Having already won United's Supporters Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year awards James was thrilled to pick up the trophies and told us:
"It's a tremendous honour and I feel very proud to have won the awards. We had a great run towards the end of the season and we can't wait to get back and start next season now. There are some very good players in this league and it's a good feeling to know that people recognise the part I played in a great team effort."
Alan Alger of Blue Square told us:
"James fully deserves the reward, not just for the goals he scored but also for his work rate, effort and consistency. He is a worthy winner and is already one of the favourites in our odds to be top scorer in the league in the coming season."
