Chris Ready For Bulls Test

Posted on: Fri 10 Sep 2010

Chris Wilder is hoping for another positive away performance from his team as they travel to Hereford on Saturday.

The game marks the first time in more than thirty years that the two clubs have met in a league fixture and with that in mind is sure to be a hard-fought and entertaining encounter.

The U's have put in several encouraging performances on the road already this season, not least against Wycombe and West Ham, and with a first league win of the season now under their belts the manager is hoping that his players can carry on their good form at Edgar Street.

Says Wilder:

"We have played particularly well in the last two away league games, and at West ham as well. We just have to keep our feet on the ground and realise what's behind those decent performances is to first and foremost work hard and compete. Then when we get the chance to play, we play.We did that against Burton, West Ham and Wycombe and that will be the aim again at Hereford.

"I think we have set out to win every game and we have flexibility if we need to change things around a little bit. We are going to go and have a go at the game which is something we've already done very well this season, especially at Wycombe, but we have to make sure our attitude is right."

Despite failing to notch a win on home soil so far this season Chris is expecting a very tough task against Simon Davey's men.

"Hereford haven't won a home game yet this season but we've got the stats from their game against Rotherham. [Hereford] battered them only for Rotherham to nick the game on the break, so we know that if we allow ourselves to go there thinking it's easy that we won't get the right result. We need to work hard and put a performance in and focus on doing what we're good at. If we do that then I think we've got a good chance of getting our first away win."

Despite a strong reserve side earning a very credible away win at Ipswich Town on Wednesday the manager admits that, following last weekend's emphatic victory over Morecambe, changing the side is not at the top of his priority list.

"We've won four-nil so I don't think you're looking at there being many changes but there are always bits and pieces that we need to work on and make sure that we get right. I'm delighted that we've brought back the reserve side because you need that to keep everybody sharp and I'm even more pleased that they've got a win this week. Over the past few days the first team, youth team and reserve team have all won and that's a sign of the winning mentality that we've got running through the club. It's a good habit and we need to ensure that it's instilled in every player at the football club."
