United boss Chris Wilder is in good spirits ahead of his side's Sunday trip to Tamworth.
Wilder will take his side to the Lamb Ground looking for three points following Saturday's draw at home to Kettering, and with Tamworth inflicting United's first home league defeat back in January there's no end of motivation for the squad going into the match.
Says Wilder:
"The onus is on us to go and play and I saw signs [of improvement] on Saturday. It's been a bad week and that's all that it is. We've never promised anything other than to be competitive and to try and get ourselves in and around there. We've had a lot of expectation this season and we've handled that pretty well. We've had a bit of a slip but we're coming into the final stretch and I've always said that it's about the next game, and the next game is one that we certainly want to win."
The manager has been boosted by the return of James Constable and Alfie Potter to full training over the past week, and with skipper Adam Murray now entering his third week of full training could well find himself with plenty of options as he looks to put The Lambs to the slaughter.
"It's a big boost to have players coming back. We've had to go without some really good players over the past month which hasn't been a great situation, but I don't think there's a team in this league that wouldn't welcome the likes of Adam Murray, Alfie Potter and James Constable back into the ranks.
"We've got a lot of good players here and a lot of experience. Even if a few of them aren't pushing thirty we have a lot of players who have the experience and success that comes from winning football matches, and they're the ones who have to take responsibility and grab the opportunity over the next eleven games."
Having been in and around the top places since the opening weeks of the season, the next six weeks will see the final quarter of the fixtures list played out at a ferocious pace. With the table almost certain to change on a game-by-game basis at both ends, the manager is keen to stress the importance of focussing purely on your own fortunes rather than others.
"We've been around the top for a long time and now it's up to other teams to handle what we've had to handle for most of the season. It's down to us to keep everybody and fit and focussed and stay nice and positive, and if we do that then we've nothing to fear."
