Wilder on Hayes

Posted on: Tue 09 Mar 2010

Chris Wilder says that it's "back to business" for his Oxford side as they face two home fixtures in the next week.

United take on Hayes & Yeading in the Blue Square Premier this evening while they entertain Kettering Town on Saturday afternoon, and the manager is under no illusions as to what is required from his team as they look to continue their push for success.

Says Wilder:

"Over the next two games we've got to look to pick up maximum points. We've had a nice rest since last Tuesday so we're looking forward to the game against Hayes & Yeading where we can hopefully produce a performance that gets us the right result.

"There's a doubt with James Constable because of his ankle but hopefully he'll be back for Kettering at least. We'll have to assess him but everybody is looking forward to it and we're raring to go."

With Anthony Tonkin suspended for tonight's match and several first team players nursing bumps and bruises, there could be a minor reshuffle for the home side as the manager looks to maintain his low-risk policy.

"There aren't going to be any risks and that's something that we've implemented a lot this season. Alfie Potter is doing well in his recovery but Kevin Sandwith has cracked a rib against Oxford City last week. He'll definitely be out but Jake Wright has played there numerous times and Simon Clist played left back for Barnet the year that they won the Conference, so there are decisions to be made on that front."

The U's currently find themselves with just thirteen league games left in the season, and with teams around them trying their best to apply pressure the Yellows will need to show strength and resilience over the coming games.

Not that Chris expects anything less himself...

"We've got to win our home games and the next couple are good games for us to have. They're difficult fixtures that people will no doubt expect us to win, which I understand, and the players should expect to win them for themselves as well. We're in decent form and it's very much back to business from my point of view."
