Darren Patterson believes his new look side are starting to gel and now know the expectation that comes with each game. The U's travel to Wrexham tomorrow looking to build on their first win of the season, a 6-3 victory over Eastbourne, and Darren is confident that they can build on that performance:

"I think the new players now know what it's like to play here. It's tough mentally as well as physically so we gave them a couple of days off after three games in eight days and they came back and looked very bright and very sharp yesterday."

United will be without Joe Burnell, who is out for a couple of weeks with an ankle injury, something Darren could have done without:

"It's a big blow. Joe has really settled in well and was getting better and better. No doubt he is a good acquisition and we will miss him. He is a good talker and organiser and we need as many of those as we can get. That's vital away from home especially."

Burnell's absence looks likely to give Eddie Hutchinson a chance to start in midfield, and Darren was full of praise for the former Brentford man's performance as a sub on Saturday:

"You have to take your hat off to Hutch. He came on and did very well and has a great chance of starting on Thursday. It's up to him to maintain that performance for 90 minutes. If he wants to stay here then he has to do that every week. He certainly has it in his locker but we haven't seen it consistently over the last two years. We need to get that out of him, and he has to perform to that level week in week out."

United should be well prepared to face Brian Little's side and know what to expect:

"We went to watch them on Sunday, the Chairman went to watch them as well, and the people who do the scouting for us went too, so we had three reports! I went to see them against York and they are a physically strong side with good solid citizens in key positions and an outstanding manager who has had success and will want more. But we will approach it the right way.

"We believe we will score goals, and that's encouraging when you consider the players we have out through injury. We will go there positive, be a lot more solid as a unit than we were on Saturday, and as a passing fluent side I hope we play like we have done in the last two games."
