The week ahead
If last week saw a clearing of the decks then this week will see the rebuilding start in earnest for Darren Patterson as he begins to assemble the squad for next season.
The United boss spent last week talking to players about their futures, and had some tough decisions to make as to who remained with the U's. Now though the emphasis has moved on to next season, and Yellow World asked Darren what is in store over the next few days?
"This week we've been organising the backroom staff, which we've done, organising pre-season which we are close to getting sorted, and continuing to speak to our transfer targets. I have had several meetings already and have several thousand more planned with players! I have my budget and now know the sort of money I have to work with."
Darren is in no doubt which area remains a priority as he brings new faces in to the club;
"Obviously the squad has to fit into the budget and we have to sit down and prioritise where we are going to spend the most money. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realise which area we are going to pay more money for. We have been very organised and very solid throughout, kept a lot of clean sheets and been good defensively.
"We started scoring in the last twelve games or so but that has to happen over 46 games and we will look to improve that side of things first if we can. It doesn't always work like that. Ideally I'd like it done quickly and there are quite a few options available to me..."
