Oxford United were joined by the girls and boys from Spurgeons Young Carers, our guests for the match against Chesterfield on Saturday. The children are part of a brand new initiative called SHOUT! which is in association between Spurgeons and Oxford Citizens Housing Association.
The local project organises activities to generate respect between young and old while enabling others to build better communities by tackling issues such as anti-social behavior.
This is the second time this season that the Spurgeons organisation has joined us for a match. Mike Wills is one of the youth coordinators and had this to say following the game on Saturday, "It was definitely a memorable experience for all the children and adults alike. For most this was the first time they had attended a match at a stadium like the Kassam."
The attendees took part in a group package which also included a match programme mention as well as a commemorative photograph taken on the pitch. Group ticket organiser James Peterson said, "It was wonderful to have all the children join us for the match on Saturday. The efforts we are making in the community are a testament to our Family Club of the Year Award."
