Over 90 United in Business members enjoy December event at Williams Conference Centre.
On Wednesday morning, over 90 United in Business members enjoyed a morning of breakfast, light networking and business. Members also had the privilege of hearing from Humphrey Walters, a close friend of Oxford United Chairman Darryl Eales, who has been inspiring sportsmen and woman all of his life.
For the past 30 years, Humphrey has been inspiring and motivating individuals, teams and corporations in leadership and management and the concept of “The Business of Winning”. He has studied both academically and practically all aspects of human nature that motivate and inspire people to succeed and win. Humphrey is unique in that to study teamship and attitudes in a hostile environment, he spent 11 months in a force 10 gale doing the BT Global Challenge – a yacht race sailing the wrong way round the world which he went into detail about during his 30 minute talk.
United in Business were extremely impressed with Humphrey’s talk which constantly related back to our members and their businesses. Stuart Crook from Wellers Accountants was extremely impressed and stated “Humphrey was really great. He is a great speaker with some excellent pedigree”.
Members were then treated to a show round of the Williams Conference Centre. Members had the chance to take a look at over 38 of the team’s seminal race cars as the Williams Grand Prix Collection is the largest private collection of Formula One cars in the world, charting the team’s 36 years of motor racing history.
Members were full of praise for the event and Simon Hill from MARS Recruitment believed the event was the best United in Business event yet. “I thought it was the best event yet. Humphrey was outstanding and the Oxford United commercial team did a great job putting the event together”.
