TEAM NEWS
United will look to Tyrone Barnett to lead the line as they welcome Tranmere Rovers in the FA Cup Second Round on Saturday. The on-loan Peterborough striker scored in the league meeting between the sides a few weeks ago and netted United's goal at Cheltenham last weekend and Head Coach Michael Appleton is likely to rely on Barnett up front with a number of other striking options unavailable. New signings John Campbell and Wes Burns are cup-tied while both James Roberts and Will Hoskins are injured. The pair are doing well with their rehab work and United could be boosted by Hoskins returning to full training on Monday with Roberts also close to a return.

With Chey Dunkley cup-tied there could be a place on the bench for Michael Raynes while both Joe Riley and Tareiq Holmes-Dennis are eligible under the terms of their loans.

See Wes Burns, Jon Meades and Michael Appleton give their thoughts ahead of the game in Yellow Player.

THE OPPOSITION
Micky Adams was in the stands for the league game the last time the teams met before officially taking over on the Monday. The vastly experienced manager believe his side have improved greatly since that first meeting:

"I certainly feel that we’ve improved" he said. "I feel there’s more about us and we understand our roles and responsibilities and that we can go to Oxford and get a positive result, because that’s what we’re after.

"Michael Appleton and his staff have become quite frustrated with what they’ve produced. We know that on the day they’re a decent side.

"It's not a game we should be fearful of and that’s my message to my players.

"There's nothing to fear and whilst we respect everything about Oxford, I believe that if we perform anything like we did last weekend, we’ll get a positive result."
