Oxford United Sign Jonjoe Kenny

27 January 2016

Right-back Kenny joins on loan

Oxford United have completed the signing of Everton defender Jonjoe Kenny on an initial one month loan.

Kenny,18, has been with Everton since he was nine and can play at right-back or as a defensive midfielder. An England youth international, Kenny has captained the Everton under 21 side and enjoyed a seven game loan spell at Wigan Athletic earlier in the season.

Head Coach Michael Appleton welcomed Jonjoe to the club, saying:

“He is very highly-rated at Goodison and we are not the only club to have watched him a number of times this season. He can play in a few positions, uses the ball well and has a fantastic attitude; he wants to be involved all the time and has a really bright future.

“We have some massive games coming up and adding players like Jonjoe, and Jordan Bowery last week, gives us options and competition for places at an important stage of the season.”

Kenny goes straight into the squad as United welcome Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup on Saturday
