Three players leave the U's on Deadline Day

Transfer Deadline Day has begun with three players leaving the Kassam Stadium.

Left back Tareiq Holmes-Dennis has returned to parent club Charlton Athletic, cutting short his loan spell, as has Wes Burns who returns to Bristol City, who have agreed a new loan for him at Cheltenham Town. Meanwhile right-back David Hunt leaves the Kassam Stadium by mutual consent. Holmes-Dennis made 17 starts for the U’s, Burns made six (one goal) while Hunt made 56 starts and two sub appearances during his 18 months with the club.

Head Coach Michael Appleton said:

“Tareiq and Wes are both talented young players who have done well during their loan spells but their parent clubs want them to be playing matches to gain experience and we can’t guarantee that with other players arriving at the club on permanent deals. David Hunt has been an excellent servant for this club and deserves the chance to play first team games elsewhere.

“We’d like to thank all three players for their efforts and wish them well for the future.”
