United team up with Oxford Bus Company

24 May 2016

Great deals on bus travel to see the U's

Following Oxford United’s promotion the U’s and Oxford Bus Company have teamed up to put together some great value travel deals for United season ticket holders for the new Sky Bet EFL League One season.

When season ticket prices are announced later this week fans will also be able to purchase a special ‘bus add-on’, which will give them discounted travel on Oxford Bus Company’s city5 service between Oxford Rail station, the city centre, Cowley and the Kassam Stadium on match days.

The city5 is Oxford Bus Company’s highest frequency service, and following a major fleet upgrade in 2015 passengers have benefited from free on-board WiFi and audio-visual next-stop announcements which tell passengers where and when to hop off for the stadium.

Prices for the add-on ticket start from as low as £25 for under 18s and just £35 for adults for all 23 league matches.

There is even better value for families coming to games. A  family of two adults and up to three children travelling together can buy a Family bus permit to matches for just £60 for the season.

Oxford United Managing Director Greig Box Turnbull said, “It’s great news and another innovative way we are working with Oxford Bus Company who are big supporters of the club.

“We are looking at a wider long-term strategy  that makes it easier for fans to get to games from all parts of the county and across the city. That may take a little time but offering easy, affordable transport to games from key locations  thanks to Oxford Bus Company, is good news for the club and for fans.”

Oxford Bus Company Managing Director Phil Southall said,

“This joint deal is another great step forward for our partnership with Oxford United. We’re proud to sponsor the club’s WSL team and are hoping we can make it as easy as possible for fans to cheer on the Yellows next season in League One.

“Taking the city5 will make it easier for fans to combine a few drinks in the city centre before or after the match, and allow them to easily get to and from the Kassam.”

The Oxford Bus company will also be introducing  a special family ticket on the X3 and X13 services from Oxford to Abingdon Boundary House stop for those travelling to Oxford United  Women’s' games in WSL2.

This will see a special £5 ticket for up to 2 adults and up to 2 children travelling together. This ticket will be available on the usual X3 and X13 routes on Sundays when there is a home game, and from 6pm onwards on week match nights.
