Midfielder impresses after trial

There is a new face in the Oxford United youth team with midfielder James Cowan moving down from Scotland to join the U’s’ youth set up.

The 17-year-old midfielder was previously with Dundee but impressed during a trial here at Oxford and is now in training full time and will sign as a scholar next season. Leon Blackmore Such told us:

“It was Kane Hemmings who mentioned him first because he knew him from Dundee and said he was a player with a lot of potential. He came down and did well in a couple of friendlies and now we get the chance to work with him for a longer period of time.

“There is a long way to go but he has shown a lot of commitment to relocate down here and I’m sure he will be determined to make the most of this opportunity.”
