Ribeiro and Long on Comeback Trail

19 January 2017

Pair in line for friendly return against Vancouver Whitecaps

Oxford United have been boosted this week by the return to training of defenders Christian Ribeiro and Sam Long.

Ribeiro suffered a serious ankle injury in the final pre-season training session back in August and has yet to make a start for the U’s while Long has been out for a number of weeks with a hamstring problem.
Head Coach Michael Appleton told Yellow Player HD:

“They have both made good progress and it’s good to see them back out in training, With Christian it is still at the early stages and it is going to take a while before he is back in contention. We won’t put too many time scales on either him or Sam for a full return but we do hope to have them involved in some way when we play a Development game against the Vancouver Whitecaps at the end of the month.”

That friendly against Vancouver will take place at Dragon Park, Newport on Monday  January  30th, kick off at 1pm. It is not a behind closed doors game.
