The verdict from the Ricoh Arena
Head Coach Michael Appleton was left frustrated as his team lost 2-1 at Coventry last night. Two first half goals cost United despite a late consolation from Dan Crowley and Michael told Yellow Player HD.
“It was a frustrating night. We never got out of the traps in the first half and we allowed Coventry to get a little bit of momentum going in the game.
“It took a fantastic finish for them to get their noses in front but as early as the second minute they had a shot at goal and that pretty much summed up the first half. Before the first goal we had three shots at goal in the space of ten seconds. Those are the fine lines. We hit the bar and keeper makes two fantastic saves and then within minutes we were a goal down to a wonder goal.
“The second goal was a little bit lapse in concentration, little bit lapse in communication. That happens when you feel a little anxious or are feeling a bit brittle and came after Coventry had started well and we didn’t cope well enough.
“The second half was a massive improvement but you’d expect that when you are two goals down. We have to make sure we start games better than we did tonight. Staring at Port Vale on Saturday.”
