Defender joins the Cobblers on loan
Oxford United defender Tom Newey has joined Northampton Town on loan until January 3rd.The experienced left-back was a regular starter for the U’s at the start of the season but has not featured since the arrival of Tareiq Holmes-Dennis on loan from Charlton. Newey will train with the Cobblers today and will be eligible for their home game against Wimbledon on Saturday.
United Head Coach Michael Appleton said:
“With Tareiq arriving and Jon Meades on the bench we had three left-backs in the squad so Tom wasn’t getting games here. At his age he wants to be playing every week and so this loan works well for everyone.”
