Rovers Preview

7 February 2014

We look ahead as Oxford United travel to Bristol Rovers in Sky Bet League 2

We look ahead to Oxford United's trip to Bristol Rovers tomorrow.

TEAM NEWS
January's Sky Bet League 2 Player of the Month Ryan Clarke returns to his first club tomorrow looking for a win to keep United in the automatic promotion places. Ryan, born and raised in Bristol, said:

"It's always nice to go back. There are still people behind the scenes from when I was there and it's a game I look forward to. We are in decent form and it's another big game."

Another former Rovers man, Sean Rigg is ruled out with a calf injury but United hope to have Michael Raynes and Ryan Williams available again after injury.

See Mickey Lewis previewing the game and talking about the selection options in Yellow Player where we also have a great 15 minute Preview Show featuring Ryan Clarke, Matt Bevans and new pro Josh Ashby.

THE OPPOSITION

Rovers boss John Ward was at Gigg Lane to watch United on Tuesday and said:

"Oxford are a tough proposition. I saw them play on Tuesday night and they are very strong and hard to beat. They have a fantastic away record, but at some stage everybody must have a fall and, hopefully, that will be against us.

"We didn't play well at Chesterfield last weekend, but some of the other performances have been good without quite managing to find the goals to get the results we would have hoped for."

Ward is set to welcome midfielder Seanan Clucas back in to the squad for the first time in three months after 60 minutes in the reserves this week, while striker Eliot Richards is also in contention after fully recovering from a hamstring problem. Ward this week added striker Steven Gillespie on a short-term deal until the end of the season.
