Oxford United sign Danny Hylton

6 June 2014

United welcome former Aldershot and Rotherham striker Danny Hylton

Oxford United have completed the signing of striker Danny Hylton on a two-year deal.

25-year-old Danny began his career at Aldershot where he scored 48 times in 139 starts in all competitions, helping the Shots win promotion into the Football League.  Last season Danny joined Rotherham United as the Millers won promotion to the Championship, although a settled side at the New York Stadium meant that he made just one appearance. He went on loan to Bury, scoring twice in seven starts, and AFC Wimbledon (three goals in ten starts).

He  told us:

“It has been a frustrating time at Rotherham and I am really pleased to join Oxford on a permanent basis. I have played against them a number of times and know it’s an ambitious club with good players and I am really looking forward to it.

“I enjoyed working with Gary Waddock at Aldershot and I played some of the best football of my career under him. His sides work hard for each other and play good football and I can’t wait to be part of that next season.”

Gary Waddock said:

“Danny has a great attitude and wants to show what he can do again.  He maybe has a point to prove and is hungry to do well here.

“He scores his fair share of goals but he also links things together and brings others into play. He is versatile, can play all across the front line, has pace and I believe he will do well for us.”
