Young keeper returns to training as Cherries recall Shwan

Goalkeeper Shwan Jalal has been recalled by AFC Bournemouth from his loan spell with The U’s.

The experienced keeper has been cover for Ryan Clarke over the last three weeks but has gone back to Bournemouth after Cherries keeper Ryan Allsop was sent off at Leeds last night. Allsop faces suspension and so The Cherries have recalled Jalal to cover for Darryl Flahavan.

Fortunately for The U’s the move coincides with the return of back-up keeper Max Crocombe to full-time training. The New Zealand under-20 international is back in full training after a shoulder problem and will return to the bench when United take on Southend United at home on Saturday.

Manager Chris Wilder said:

“Shwan has fitted in with the group and we wish him well back at Bournemouth. As it happens Max has stepped things up and was due to train fully tomorrow anyway, so the timing fits in for both ourselves and Bournemouth.”
