Oxford United look to turn one point on the road into three points at home when they welcome Northampton Town to the Kassam Stadium on Tuesday night (7.45pm)
“We spoke about getting players back and getting a little run going and we have gone five unbeaten now and players are getting sharper and have more minutes under their belts” Des Buckingham told iFollow.
“It takes a little time for that to all happen and for players to find their feet but I am happy with what I have seen so far and we want to continue our progress on Tuesday night and then roll that in to the weekend at home to Orient.
“We missed Elliott Moore and Marcus McGuane at the weekend but I thought Stephan Negru came in and did a good job and helped us defend and keep a clean sheet, which meant a point away from home to add to the three at home last Tuesday. Jay Matete started his first game and got through 90 minutes as well so that will put him, and us, in a better position.
“We still have a fair part of the season to go and the changes we have made in games recently have been a big help. We pick a starting eleven that is right for that particular game but everyone can make an impact.
"Everyone came through Saturday unscathed, a tough test at Wycombe. I thought Greg, Ciaron, Steph and Longy stood up to that very well.
“Northampton are a good side, we saw that before Christmas at their place, but we have to build on a point and a clean sheet on Saturday and back up an away point with three points from a home game”.
